Situation
Shri Harendra Reang of Paharpur, Gomati district, was dependent on fish farming but initially earned only about ₹43,500 annually from grow-out fish culture despite having a 1.44 ha fishery pond.
Response
On 27 September 2021, KVK Gomati officials visited his farm and identified problems related to feeding, care, surrounding maintenance and stocking density. KVK Gomati provided one-to-one technical support, inputs and demonstrations of available technology.
Result
The source reports that after the intervention he reached an annual income of about ₹1.2 lakh and produced around 54,000 fish annually, including Rohu, Catla, Silver carp, Batta and Mrigal.
Evidence
His continued efforts are described as an inspiration to other fish farmers in Paharpur and nearby villages to adopt fish grow-out culture.
